About Amelie

Amelie Jacobs is a New York City-based singer and actress. She is an alum of LaGuardia High school, where she played Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance and was assistant to the director of the Emmy nominated Rising Stars: Behind the Mask (2021). She is currently attending Manhattan School of Music to get her Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice (Theater credit: Judas in Godspell). A lot of her experience and training comes from her work in community theaters like Narrows Community Theater and The Heights Players (Highlights: Ella in R&H's Cinderella, Amalia in She Loves Me, Bea in Something Rotten, Cinderella in Into the Woods, Cosette in Les Misérables, Penny in Urinetown). She has also had the opportunity to perform at multiple NYC cabaret venues like 54 Below, Chelsea Table + Stage, and Don't Tell Mama NYC. Amelie is pursuing a passionate career in musical theater, opera, and jazz. (The doors Julie Benko have opened).

Along with her onstage credits, Amelie would not be the person she is today without her experience behind the curtain. She has taken on multiple production manager positions and has teaching and interning experience. She is the current music director at Triple Promise Academy, teaching a cast with an age range from three to twelve years old (Finding Nemo Jr., SpongeBob the Musical Jr., Seussical Jr.) During the summer of 2022, Amelie was an intern for Broadway Teachers Workshop, where she was able to monitor and even assist broadway professionals in masterclasses for all things industry. Some highlights were assisting Etai Benson and Brittany Coleman in a scenes masterclass from the latest revival of Company and getting to sing for Derek Klena in a class focused on helping teachers learn how to guide their students towards success. Amelie has also taught vocal lessons in multiple genres of music to students ages seven to thirteen.

Being the daughter of a sound engineer and self-proclaimed audiophile, Amelie discovered her own love for the science of sound. In 2021, she self-recorded herself singing 64 tracks of an 8-part choir piece: Sleep by Eric Whitacre. After recording each track, she individually doubled and mixed each track to sound like a choir of 128 voices (you can find this on her YouTube channel). The audiophile genetics don’t end there. Around the same time, Amelie realized her fascination of vinyl records. Now with a collection of over 80 second-hand records, she loves to analyze and compare the sound and recording qualities of the records and learn more about the history of recorded music.

Now for some ice breakers... Her favorite color is red; a hobby of her’s is making playlists on Spotify (even though she doesn’t have Spotify premium); her hairspo (hair-inspiration) idols are Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush, and Natasha Lyonne; she is very passionate about the song “Groove is in the Heart” by Deee-Lite; and she is currently trying to learn Yiddish on Duolingo with the hopes of getting cast in “Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish” one day (manifesting).
